A WISE Retreat is a private and very affordable residential addiction treatment facility exclusively for men.

We have limited admissions for a few select individuals suffering from opioid use disorder (OUD), drug addiction, alcohol use disorder or functional alcoholism.

For opioid addiction recovery, we use integrative evidence-based treatments – including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). Each client receives a thorough assessment. A unique and individualized treatment program is created for all clients.

We are a dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders) program. We specialize in helping those experiencing both substance use disorders – as well as mental health issues.

Our opioid addiction recovery treatment integrates evidence-based modalities with dual diagnosis treatment and education. Education is a key factor in our program. We give our clients the tools they need in order to achieve long-term recovery.

Our Goal is to restore balance in every area of a man’s life – mind, body and spirit.

We treat the whole person – Body, Mind and Spirit – combining traditional western medicine and eastern holistic traditions.

Gold Standard for Opioid Recovery: Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

For recovery from opioid addiction, we use Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) at A WISE Retreat. Medications like methadone, as well as buprenorphine and naltrexone, are considered the gold standard of care for opioid addiction.

In addition, our patients receive evidence-based addiction recovery treatments. These include cognitive behavioral therapy, counseling, psychosocial behavioral health treatment and mindfulness.

Studies show that these medications reduce the mortality rate among those patients by half or more, and keep people in treatment better than non-medication approaches.

Dual Diagnosis Addiction Treatment

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 9.2 million U.S. adults experienced both mental illness and a substance use disorder in 2018.

At A WISE Retreat, we use an integrative approach in the treatment of dual diagnosis.

The mental health issues we treat include depression, anxiety, mood disorders, bereavement, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and more.

Our team of professional addiction specialists and staff members utilize the best evidence-based addiction treatment methodologies available. Education is a key factor in our program. We give our clients everything they need in order to improve the odds of long-term recovery.

We focus on health, wellness, nutrition, exercise and life balance. We combine traditional western medicine with eastern holistic traditions.

We Treat the Whole Person

In addition to medications and therapy, our addiction treatment philosophy is to treat the Whole Person using holistic methodology.

Addiction is not a moral failing, therefore we never shame or blame our clients. Instead we teach our clients self-efficacy, self-control, self-confidence and motivate them to change their behaviors and their lives.

Our clients benefit from art therapy, mindfulness and meditation, wellness nutrition education, family therapy and addiction recovery exercise for wellness.

We Encourage Addiction Recovery Support Options

Although A WISE Retreat is not based on a traditional 12-step program, our clients experience AA and NA meetings. Many individuals find the 12-Step Approach in AA and NA to be very helpful.

We also encourage our clients to explore alternative peer support group options.

Addiction recovery is not ‘one size fits all’. Some individuals may benefit greatly from the AA 12 Step model. Others may not find that AA or NA are helpful. At A WISE Retreat, we make certain that our clients are familiar with self-help support group options.

Alternatives to 12 Step addiction recovery reject a view of ‘helplessness’ regarding addiction.

Instead, alternative peer support addiction recovery groups see individuals as having adequate power within themselves to overcome addictions. This view is evident in the language of alternative addiction self-help organizations. Phrases such as “empowering our sober selves,” “saving our selves,” and “self-management and recovery” are emphasized.

Clients at A WISE Retreat also attend one LifeRing Recovery meeting a week – as well as one SMART Recovery meeting a week.
